Automatic Sync Technologies (AST) has been providing closed captioning services for over 10 years, producing more than 4.8 million caption files for over 4,000 customers. In 2003, AST was awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the United States Department of Education, providing the company’s initial funding. Founders Kevin Erler, Ph.D. and Brent Robertson then worked in collaboration with a team of expert advisors to develop the most cost-efficient, high quality, automatic closed captioning service available today.
Today we proudly serve thousands of customers around the world, including educational institutions such as the California State University System, the University of Virginia, and the University of Washington, government agencies such as NASA and the Library of Congress, and enterprises including Apple, NBC Learn, Pearson, and Cengage Learning.
AST was founded by engineers, and while our team has grown significantly over the years, our primary focus remains on the continuous improvement of CaptionSync’s technology and operations. AST’s dedicated team of professional transcribers and translators, along with our engineering, operations, and support staff, are ready to help make your closed captioning and subtitling projects a success. We cannot introduce you to everyone at AST in this limited space, but the folks you are most likely to encounter are below. You can also view a brief video overview about the company here.
