Hello. This is Art Morgan from Automatic Sync, and in this tutorial we are going to show you how to configure your CaptionSync account for use with Brightcove. The first step is to configure your CaptionSync account. When your account is enabled with the Brightcove integration feature you'll see a new option on the Account Settings page: Brightcove Settings. Click on that, and you'll see that you need to save a Brightcove Read Token and a Write Token. I'll jump over to my Brightcove account, and copy first the read token and then the write token. Go to Account Settings, then API Management, and the read token you'll need is the one with URL access. You can click on this icon and copy it to your clip board. Paste it in, and then do the same thing for the write token. The next two fields are pre-populated for you by default. These fields are used by CaptionSync after the caption files are created. The defaults here are what you need if you want AST to host the caption files for you, but you can change these settings if you want to send them to your own server. More about that is included in the Brightcove Getting Started Guide.Once you're done here, click the Update Settings button. Now, before we can submit our first caption job, we also need to do some configuration on our Brightcove account, so I'll go back to Brightcove for a moment. We'll navigate to Account Settings and then Video Fields. Click Add Custom Field, and then create a new custom field with an internal name of dfxppath and type text. The Display Name that you use for this field can vary, but we suggest using Caption URL. I've already created one by this name, so I will cancel this and show you the one that I have created. This new field will now be available as a metadata field for all videos on your Brightcove account, and it will be used to save the URL where the caption file can be retrieved. If you use the CaptionSync to Brightcove integration to get captions, CaptionSync will populate this field for you whenever it creates a caption file. Now let's submit some files for captioning. Under the Caption/Transcribe screen, click on New Brightcove List for Captioning. Give the job a name. If you have any notes for the transcriber, you can add them here. If you have already tagged your videos on your Brightcove account with a certain tag you can enter that here. Otherwise if you leave that blank, and click Submit, we'll retrieve all of the files on your Brightcove account that haven't yet been captioned, starting with the most recent. Just check off the ones that you want captioned, and click Caption Selected Videos. From there the entire captioning workflow is automatic. CaptionSync downloads the video files from your Brightcove account, transcribes the video, creates the synchronized caption file, stores the file in the hosting location that you have selected, and finally writes the caption URL to the Brightcove metadata for the video. When you publish your videos using a Brightcove player that is enabled for closed captions, you will be able to toggle the captions on and off. There are more details on setting up and customizing players in our getting started guide, and on the Brightcove support site. If you have any questions or want to customize your Brightcove captioning workflow further, feel free to contact us.
