Recorded Webinar: On March 5th, 2015, in partnership with Brightspace™ by D2L, AST presented a webinar on Closed Captioning and Video Accessibility in Higher Education. The aim of the webinar was to help universities and other higher education entities understand the best practices for accessibility when using video as an educational tool. Ensuring that educational video content includes high-quality closed captioning is now more important than ever, due to recent lawsuits filed by the National Association for the Deaf (NAD).

Highlights of the webinar include accessibility features of Brightspace, recent shifts in compliance enforcement in higher education, and the success of Inver Hills Community College’s initiative to improve learning for a diverse student body through post-production captioning.

In the webinar, you will hear from the Founder and President of Automatic Sync Technologies, Kevin Erler Ph.D., and the VP Partner of Development, Art Morgan. Also presenting is Janna Cameron, Senior Usibility Specialist at D2L and Rebecca Graetz, Ed.D., Instructional Designer/Technologist, Inver Hills Community College.

    Who should watch?

    • Schools wanting to learn about recent regulation enforcement.
    • Schools that are looking for video accessibility solutions.
    • Educational programming companies that are in need of captioning that meets quality and compliance standards for higher education.

The webinar presentations have been pre-recorded and captioned for accessibility.
